IWC sweeps
board in Watches
of the Year 2000 poll
| In
the fifth "Watches of the Year" poll organized by DIE
PRESSE, Austria's most prestigious quality daily newspaper, IWC
stood out head and shoulders above other manufacturers. In three
of the four categories for which IWC was nominated, the
company's products were always placed among the first three. In
the "Men's watch" category, the new Portuguese
Automatic 2000 took the laurels for IWC by a considerable margin.
In
the "Complicated watch" category the new, enlarged Da
Vinci split-seconds was runner-up.

|
In
the "Ladies' watch" category, the Mark XV took second
place after the Reverso Duetto, which is manufactured by IWC's
affiliate company, Jaeger-LeCoultre.

|
Altogether,
readers had to make their choice between 137 models. No other
manufacturer finished as well as IWC overall. In view of the
fact that IWC expressly manufactures men's watches, this year's
result in the Ladies' watch category is especially significant.
IWC caused another sensation in the ladies' category last year
when its classic, oversize Portuguese chronograph was placed
first. At last year's prize-giving ceremony, there were many
people who could hardly believe their eyes and thought it must
have been a freak occurrence. This year's ceremony attracted
even more professionals than last year's and their reaction when
the prizes were awarded is difficult to put into words.
The poll
attracted a total of 12 332 votes, not only from Austria but
also neighbouring countries such as Switzerland, Germany and
Hungary.
